WEA UPHOLSTERY

ASCENDANCE DANCE - “INNER SPACES” - Young People
This is an exciting heritage project using church spaces (their Architecture and history) to create
dance. The project takes place in Bridlington Priory Church on the following dates:-
Thursday 25th October 10am to 3pm
Friday 26th October 10am to 3pm
Saturday 27th October 12 noon to 4.45pm (Including performance at 4.00pm)
Bring a packed lunch and wear comfortable clothes. £1 donation appreciated per day. There will be a second phase of this project in February 08 culminating in a gala performance in Wakefield Cathedral, with over 300 participants. Age 8 years+

MAGIC LANTERNS - SLIDE SHOW
Thursday 11th October - 7pm - 8.15pm
Jim Daniels will give a talk on the history of Magic Lanterns. 3 x 19th century lanterns will be exhibited together with other related exhibits for you to view and discuss. The slides are 19th century and mainly feature tourists in Victorian everyday clothes of the period ascending glaciers and snow covered mountains in Switzerland. Age 16+

A PHILOSOPHICAL PERSPECTIVE ON MENTAL ILLNESS
(Evolution of the Human Mind) With Dr. Diane Watson Dip. P.S.E., M.A., Ph.D
Thursdays 6.30pm at the OPO on 8th, 15th, 22nd and 29th November 07. Age 16+.
A series of four talks aimed at a general audience: those who have experience of mental ill health, those who work with or care for people with mental ill health, and those who have an academic interest in psychology or philosophy. Each talk will consist of a one hour presentation followed by refreshments and an open discussion. Handouts and list of further reading will be provided.
