"Heatstroke" is a wonderful farce by that master of comedy writing, Eric Chappell (of TV’s “Rising Damp” fame) and it is set in a Spanish villa in summertime so it should really help to dispel those winter blues!
Sam and Fay Spencer think they are about to have a peaceful and relaxing holiday in the luxurious (and free!) Spanish villa of Fay’s boss, Sidney...but how wrong can they be? The villa has been double-booked and the actor Howard Booth, together with his girlfriend Dodie, arrive shortly after the Spencers. To compound the confusion, Sam and Howard have matching holdalls which have become muddled with each other and with a third, full of money, the hunt for which brings the sinister Raynor to the villa. The assumed identities, breakneck pace and hilarious mishaps of farce mix with the tension, mystery and startling plot reversals of a thriller in this clever and amusing play.
We welcome three newcomers to the stage in this production–Eloise Guy from the Youth Section makes her debut in the adult arena together with Scott Roberts and Adam Bakes who recently joined the Society. We wish them all a successful week on the Bilton stage.
