Double Treat at The Processed Pea - Tueday 6th November 2007
Acoustic music venue The Processed Pea has lined up two main guests for its session on Tuesday 6th November 2007. Singer songwriter Paul Liddell and acoustic duo ODI will share the evening in a special event at the Light Dragoon, Etton near Beverley at 8.30pm.
Organiser Martin Peirson explained, “Although these two acts are not yet household names, both are outstanding and have what it takes to break into the national music scene in a big way. Following the success of a recent evening at The Processed Pea featuring local performers, we are repeating the formula of having more than one main guest which is great for an audience to sample new artists work — a bit like a festival”.
Sunderland’s Paul Liddell gave a great performance to a packed village hall audience in Cherry Burton recently when he supported The Peter Donegan Band. He has been courted by many record labels including RCA and EMI, but feels working independently gives an artist greater freedom and control over their music. His second album ‘A Lighthouse Keeper’s Diary’ was recorded on his own label — and distributed in stores around the UK by Universal.
Recently, 26 year old Paul has played in Italy and toured the UK and America. His one man show and self effacing style combined with his powerful and unpretentious delivery continues to earn him many new fans at live performances. His self-written bittersweet songs, plus technical wizardry, unique guitar style and compelling vocals make a lasting impression on listeners. The Crack magazine described his songs as ’Glittering nuggets of irresistible folk-pop gold.’
ODi (aka Claire Odium) is an Irish female singer songwriter originally from Co. Wexford in Ireland. She is now based in Leeds and has also been making a name for herself locally with mainstage appearances at The Beverley Folk Festival and several Hull venues. Her first batch of songs have been described as ‘beautiful.’ ‘emotional,’ ‘exciting’ and ‘well crafted’.
On the live front Claire joins forces with Dave Redfearn on guitar and harmonies. With the release of their debut single 'Crawl' the pair have won many fans around the UK and Ireland building up a strong live reputation and putting on enchanting performances. According to Rhythm & Booze ‘ODi has a wonderfully expressive voice and writes passionate and engaging songs that will captivate even the most hardened critic.’
