Enjoy the Aroma of the Festival
On Saturday 11th May between 10.30am and 2.30pm, a selection of artists appearing at this year’s Beverley Folk Festival, will once again be hitting Beverley town centre Cafés giving taster performances of what the public can expect to hear at the festival’s 30th anniversary celebrations this June.
A variety of artists will be taking part in the popular annual event ‘The Festival Café Run’ including: Vinnie Whitehead, Nick Rooke, Ben Parcell and Nikki Airey. Café’s where artists can be found are: Vanilla’s, Café Nero, Rolando’s, Costa Coffee, Lempicka, Dine on The Rowe, Ask, Browns and The Poppy Seed.
The festival can also be found in Beverley’s Saturday Market the same day from 10.00am at the market’s charity stall where full information about this year’s landmark event will be available and organisers and volunteers will be on hand to answer questions.
Laura Whitewood, Festival Administrator said ‘ we use every opportunity we can to spread the word about the festival. Our annual promotion day is always a lot of fun and anyone visiting the cafes on Sat 11thMay are in for a musical treat. We remain a Not for Profit organisation and are proud to offer something to suit all tastes and ages with music ranging from traditional and modern Folk, Americana, World, Blues right through to Classic Rock & Pop. To name just a few of this year’s fantastic acts we have lined up for our Big 30 in June, are The Proclaimers, Show of Hands, Oysterband, Steve Forbert and Gretchen Peters from the USA, Crime Writer Ian Rankin, John Godbers’ play – “Bouncers”, comedians John Shuttleworth, and Patrick Monahan of ITV’s Show me the Funny, plus around another 75 more acts. We also have Traditional Dance teams, Films, the Spoken Word, workshops for all ages, a brilliant Youth programme, lots of free events and activities for Children, a fantastic Craft, Food & Music Fair, Real Ale bars and so much more. The Festival Village green field area is also free to walk around on the weekend, so we welcome visitors to come and browse around the stalls and take in the festival atmosphere. Where else are you going to find around 80 artists performing right on your doorstep and all on one Weekend? ’
The festival this year is to be held at its new home - The Beverley Racecourse
from Fri 21st to Sun 23rd June.
