Saturday night is Party Night at Beverley’s Folk Festival as it celebrates Mid-Summer
Don’t feel left out with nothing to do when Mid-Summer comes, because the Beverley Folk Festival has something special to offer (on Saturday 20th June). We can excuse the fact that the longest day is actually on 21st June and celebrate its coming with a night to remember when two of the UK’s leading folk and roots artists appear on the same bill for one of the festival’s main concerts of the weekend.
England’s leading, and most popular, young male folk artist, Seth Lakeman will be joining the celebrations with his band. As a singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist he performs songs based around his native Devon and Cornwall.
In 2005 he was nominated for a Mercury Music Prize for his album ‘Kitty Jay’ (2005) and his gold-selling ‘Freedom Fields’ (2006) featured the hit singles Lady of the Sea and The White Hare. He has performed everywhere from Libya to Australia to Texas over the years, as well as featuring on just about every major festival bill across the UK. In addition, he has toured extensively around Europe too where he’s also performed with others including Tori Amos and Clannad.
From north of the border the festival is delighted to welcome back the legendary Peatbog Faeries who hailing from the Isle of Skye, are the figurehead trailblazers of the Celtic Dance Music renaissance. Drawing upon a dazzling myriad of influences from traditional jigs and reels through jazz, hip hop, reggae and more, they take traditional Scottish music and bring it fresh-faced and breathless into the 21st century.
They have toured the world taking their inventive and unique brand of music and light show to audiences far and wide, never failing to fill the floor and delight the crowd. This is high octane Celtic dance music as you’ve never heard it before so be prepared to dance.
With a line-up like this, Saturday night on Beverley Racecourse is “The place to be”.
Individual tickets for the event can be purchased as well as Day tickets covering all performances that day or Weekend Season tickets which offer a discounted rate on all events over the festival weekend.
