Everest Base Camp 2008
Ever dreamed of trekking to the base of the highest mountain in the world and experiencing some of the most spectacular views that you could ever wish for in one life time???
Well next year make it the year that you do.
The Hull and East Riding Institute for the Blind are once again organising a selection of daring challenges for their 2008 calendar with Everest Base Camp hoping to be the most sought after.
Eight of the world’s fourteen peaks that exceed 8,000m in height are situated in the Nepalese Himalayas, the highest of them all at 8,848m is Mount Everest.
You will be flown to Kathmandu and the next day flown to Lukla and start your trek to base camp. You will be trekking for 11 days and walking at high altitude so we grade this challenge strenuous but achievable be most people who are willing to put some training in over the next 9 months. This is once in a life time experience and are looking for a maximum of 16 people to make up The Herib Team.
Herib is a well established charity and have been helping the local blind and visually impaired for over 140 years, so please come and support your local charity on this epic adventure
All this is taking place in October 2008, if you wish to book a place on this trek you will need to register with Herib ASAP. This is a sponsored event so a minimum sponsorship is required of about £2,300 which covers the cost of the trip as well. We will be supporting you every step of the way with practice walks and climbing.
